The Whoopee Party - Mickey Mouse Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1932)
This drawing is sure to make you hungry! Mickey and Minnie throw a crazy house party in this classic Wilfred Jackson and Burt Gillett-directed short, released to theaters on 9/17/1932. Mickey is in charge of making the refreshments and snacks with the help of Horace Horsecollar and Dippy Dawg while Minnie entertains the guests with her beautiful piano music and ensures they're having as much fun as they can. This 12 field 2-peghole animation drawing is rendered in graphite with color pencil highlights on the meat. It can be found at about the 1:31 mark of the short while Mickey happily bounces in his apron and slices up a large slab of ham for the guests. The full figure drawing measures roughly 4.25'' x 4.25'', noted as 78 in the lower right. This fantastic vintage drawing exhibits light age-related toning and minor edge and handling wear. Very Good condition overall.
The paper used by Disney studios in the 1930s contains a distinctive watermark, visible in one of the photos, which further attests to its authenticity.
