Sleeping Beauty - Original Maleficent Production Drawing (Walt Disney, 1959).
This extraordinary original production drawing feature Maleficent, the Mistress of All Evil, from Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty (1959). Illustrated in graphite on 16-field animation paper, this full-body drawing showcase Maleficent's commanding presence. A malevolent fairy and the embodiment of pure evil, Maleficent casts the infamous curse upon Princess Aurora, vowing that before sunset on her 16th birthday, the princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Designed and animated by Disney Legend Marc Davis, one of "Walt's Nine Old Men", Maleficent's final form was influenced by both Eleanor Audley's powerful vocal performance and Eyvind Earle's richly detailed background art. Davis refined her look, taking inspiration from Medieval religious figures, incorporating bat-like headdress wings, devilish horns, and flame-shaped robes. This stunning production drawing is in very good condition, with age-related toning and edge wear from production use. A rare and significant piece for Disney animation collectors!
Size : 40 x 31 cm
The drawing is sold unframed.
