How to Properly Frame and Preserve Your Original Drawings ?

Original production drawings are works of art that require special care if you want to preserve their beauty and value over time. Here are some essential tips:

Avoid Direct Light:
UV rays can degrade colors, inks, and especially graphite pencil drawings. If possible, use UV-protective glass to frame your drawings. Some online providers even offer custom-cut UV glass.

Choose Conservation Materials:
When framing, prioritize acid-free mats and conservation-grade backing boards to prevent yellowing and deterioration of the paper over time.

Beware of Humidity:
Humidity is the enemy of paper-based artworks. Store your drawings in a dry place with a stable temperature. In short, avoid storing your drawings in a basement or attic.

Protect Unframed Drawings:
If you don’t plan to frame a drawing immediately, store it in polyester or polypropylene sleeves to prevent damage and stains over the years.
